The team led by Dr. Mitjà works to identify the best strategy for the distribution of azithromycin, the antibiotic that will make it possible to eradicate yaws. This is the last knowledge gap to fill before giving the green light to the global eradication campaign. All the donations obtained will be used to finance the action that must allow answering the questions that still remain. To do this, we want to implement a project in which two strategies of elimination (2 rounds of medication versus 3 rounds) are compared. The research will be conducted in Papua New Guinea, which is the country with the highest prevalence of yaws. If the donations exceed the cost of the project, the surplus will go to the global eradication campaign.
